What it is
A live, nonpartisan map of your government. Enter a ZIP and see who represents you — in Congress and your statehouse almost everywhere, in your county and city where we have read them; what they're voting on; the public meetings happening near you this week; where your governments' money comes from and goes; and the boards you could serve on yourself. Every page ends with something you can do about what it shows: write, show up, serve, or vote.
What we believe
Democracy's hardest step is the first one. Most civic tools are built for people who already know what a special district is. Rallybase is built for first-timers, and it treats showing up to a budget hearing as seriously as voting — because between elections, that is where the decisions get made.
The rules we hold ourselves to
We never guess. Every figure on this site carries its source and the date it was true. When a state's own websites disagree about a deadline, we show both dates and say so. When a number is not published, we tell you why, instead of inventing one.
We take no side on anything. No ranking algorithm decides what you see first. No position on any bill, candidate, or cause — and no donations to any of them. Sponsors support the infrastructure, never a position.
Absence is information. A city that adopts its budget without holding a stated public hearing appears on Rallybase exactly that way. What a government does not publish is part of the record too.
Your data is not the product. We do not buy voter files, we do not derive your location from your IP address, and we do not sell anything about you.

Rallybase is free to use, and everything that tells you how your government works is free now and stays free. We can’t take money yet. When we can, sponsorship will support the infrastructure and buy no influence over anything the site says.

Where does the data come from?
From government and open datasets, read directly. Rallybase does not produce civic data: every figure, boundary, name and date came from somewhere public, and the Where our data comes from page lists each source together with what that source does not cover. We never invent a value to fill a gap.
How current is it?
It depends on the source, and each one says which. Some are read live at the moment you open a page; others are loaded on a schedule, or when the publisher issues a new release. Every figure on this site carries its source and the date it was true, so you can see how old any particular number is rather than having to guess.
